A Child Headbutts a Cockroach in this Chilling New OUTCAST Clip

Fans at last weekend’s New York Comic Con were among the first to catch a glimpse of Outcast, Robert Kirkman’s upcoming horror series on Cinemax. As you may recall, Kirkman is the co-creator of The Walking Dead, one of the partners at Image Comics, a member of the Transformers cinematic writers’ room, and a burgeoning force in Hollywood.

Based on Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta’s eponymous comic book series, the show follows Kyle Barnes, a man who has been haunted and possessed by demons for years. But as demonstrated in the Outcast preview scene from NYCC, Kyle’s problems go way back into his childhood…and the evil entities may already be inside of him.

Relative newcomer Zach Shirey plays young Kyle in the clip posted above, and he seems very otherworldly as he fidgets with his flesh before bashing his head against the bug on the wall…and eating it. And it’s not just that Kyle ate the bug. It’s that he enjoyed it way too much and he may have seriously injured himself while smashing that bug. It seems to imply that young Kyle isn’t in control of his own body. But if he isn’t in control, who is?

In the present day, Kyle will be portrayed by Almost Famous star Patrick Fugit, and his quest for answers leads him to Reverend Anderson, played by Life on Mars star Philip Glenister. Together, Kyle and Reverend Anderson will discover that the fate of the world is at stake, and neither man will emerge unscathed. Especially after they encounter Brent Spiner as Sidney, who may or may not be the Devil.

Also during NYCC, our very own Dan Casey caught up with Fugit, Kirkman, and producer Chris Black for an exclusive interview about Outcast, which you can see below.

Outcast will debut on Cinemax in 2016.
