Our Favorite Entries to DeviantArt’s RICK AND MORTY Fan Art Contest

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty is a magical television program for several reasons. One is that it contrasts high-level concepts like divergent timelines and artificial-memory-generating parasites with fart jokes and at least a few burps per minute as long as Rick is on screen. Another is its engaging and accessible animation style, one that is both visually appealing and detailed and specific enough to effectively portray the bizarre and aesthetically diverse universe that Rick, Morty and the rest of the Smiths inhabit.

For these reasons and others, the show has earned itself quite a fan base over its two seasons (not even), and at least a portion of those people are active users of DeviantArt: a flourishing online artistic community that has a lot to offer once you get past the over-sexualized fan fiction. Anyway, the reason we mention all of this is that Adult Swim just held a fan art contest on the site, and the winner will soon be chosen by the show’s co-creator, Justin Roiland, who also voices both titular characters.

The contest closed last night at midnight, but you can still admire the nearly 200 entries that have been submitted, and a lot of them are pretty good. The winner gets $3,500 and a bunch of Adult Swim swag.

Head to the contest page to find more details, view the submissions here, or take a look at our photo gallery below, where we’ve chosen a few of our favorites, and try to guess which one we picked ironically.
