Oscar Video Channel to Launch Sunday on Instagram

This Sunday, the Super Bowl of Hollywood commences as the Academy Awards are presented for the 88th time. For the first time ever, though, you’ll be able to see all of the highlights without having to do extensive web searches.

Launching the day of the ceremony at 4 p.m. PST, Instagram will have a video channel dedicated to catching the glitz, glamour, and anything else fans may want to see during the big night. Once you launch the application, click the “explore” tab and it will be the first result. Videos will still be 15-seconds in length, so if you are someone easily bored with award ceremonies, this feature will still let you know what’s happening before you hit that threshold.

This is in addition to the Academy’s own Instagram account which will capture candid photos of the red carpet and behind the scenes pics, as well as their Facebook page, which will be streaming live video. If you want to watch the Academy Awards without actually having to turn on your television, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences definitely has you covered.

If you haven’t done so yet, you still have time to enter the Nerdist 2016 Oscar Pool to win some awesome prizes from our friends at Funko!

The Academy Awards, hosted by Chris Rock, airs February 28 on ABC.

So what do you think? Are you going to watch the Oscars, or just check out the big moments via Instagram? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
