Between the creation and abandonment of a “Best Popular Film” category, the lasting search for a ceremony host, and the amplified fear that all the year’s “bad” films will sweep while all the year’s “good” films will go home empty handed, it’s been quite an Oscar season thus far. (Granted, that last one is pretty much an Academy Awards tradition by now… and I’ll leave it to you to decide for yourself where to set those margins.) And all this before we’ve even gotten word of which movies will be in contest for trophies this year. But Tuesday morning clues us into this year’s Oscar nominees, all of which you can find below, as we update in real time along with the official announcements. Here’s hoping that the best of fates come to the films that inspired and delighted us this year… and that they figure out this host debacle before showtime, but let’s not be greedy here.
