Olivia Munn Shows Off Her PSYLOCKE-Style Sword Fighting Skills On Instagram

Filming for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse is well underway in Montreal, and among the huge cast of characters announced for the movie was British telepath/ninja Psylocke, who will be played by actress Olivia Munn. Considering just how huge the cast of this movie is, there are many fans who feared that this fan favorite X-Man would be reduced to being just another a background player, with few lines and little action.

A similar thing happened when they added the character of Psylocke to X-Men: The Last Stand; they cast someone to play her, and Fox made a bit of noise about her inclusion in the movie, only to have her role reduced to a couple of tiny scenes. You’d never know that character was even supposed to be Psylocke unless you read the end credits.

Well, the new Psylocke’s screen time might still be in question, but one thing’s for sure: She’s probably not going to be just standing around in the background while Magneto or Apocalypse give speeches. Based on the video clip that Olivia Munn posted on Instagram, she showed off some impressive sword fighting skills, which fans know means we are going to see some serious swordplay for the character.

She captioned the post saying “learned some new tricks.” And it looks like she most certainly did. You can see her spinning her blade with ease, while her boyfriend, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, attempts to do the same thing in the background, but with less success. (Stick to your day job, dude.)

While Munn isn’t sporting Psylocke’s traditional purple hair in the video, according to reports she absolutely does in the final film. You can check out the video of Oliva Munn in full ninja-training mode below. X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to hit theaters on May 27th, 2016
