Listen to Oh My Muu’s Melancholy Remix of Ulzzang Pistol’s “Curiosity” (Premiere)

Earlier this week, we shared a new song by Philippines-based artist Ulzzang Pistol titled “Photosynthesis,” a dreamy electronic track that combined elements of dream pop and K-pop for a fresh-sounding result. Today, we are taking our exploration of the artist a step further with our exclusive premiere of a new remix from Ulzzang Pistol labelmate Oh My Muu.

For his take on the track “Curiosity”, Oh My Muu stripped the original down to its core elements, and replaced the vibrant happiness of the original with a more bass-heavy and dark-sounding vibe. The song still maintains a positive tone, it’s just more understated than the original. If anything, it brings out a more melancholy musical tone that was actually in the original the whole time, hidden behind happy-sounding synths and cheery vocals.

“My thought process for this was to create a remix that was totally different from the original, hence a remix,” Oh My Muu told us. “The original song by Ulzzang Pistol is very bright and full. I wanted to do the total opposite, very dark and minimal.” This isn’t the first time Ulzzang Pistol and Oh My Muu have worked on a project together: The two collaborated on “Expectations,” from Oh My Muu’s Self Help EP, which was released on July 21, 2015.

The original song appears on Ulzzang Pistol’s second album Waste, which was just released on February 12 via Zoom Lens.
