Official BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Plot Synopsis Revealed

After a short teaser trailer and a once steady stream of leaked set photos that has since dried up, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has largely been shrouded in mystery. In this day and age, not knowing every single detail of a movie before it hits theaters almost seems like a rarity, but as they say, ignorance is bliss. Now, however, Warner Bros. has revealed the official plot synopsis for Zack Snyder’s forthcoming superhero slugfest. The news comes from a press release for Licensing Expo 2015 in Las Vegas where Warner Bros. Consumer Products will reveal the newly tricked-out Batmobile, as well as costumes for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Here is the plot synopsis:

“Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.”

So, it’s pretty much what we expected, right? Batman and Superman go toe to toe until they realize that there’s a world-threatening evil that can only be stopped by working together? Moreover, this plot description leaves me wondering how Wonder Woman and Aquaman — as well as any of the other 90 billion rumored DCU characters — will factor into the action. Part of me is hoping that they’ll have more than just a cameo role, but then again this is all in service of setting up a Justice League movie, so it’ll happen…eventually.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, opens on March 25, 2016.
