“Now You See Me”‘s First 4 Minutes: Magic! Piranhas! A Heist!

Giving off a Zombieland-meets-Ocean’s Eleven by way of Burt Wonderstone vibe, Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me, a heist/thriller centering around a group of magicians whose most impressive trick involves robbing a bank and sharing the spoils with their audiences, is attempting to pull off the impossible by using its wits, wiles and sleight of hand to pull off a summer blockbuster in a season dominated by superheroes, giant robots and sequels galore.

To help you pay more attention to the men (and women) behind the curtain, Fandango posted the film’s first four minutes today, which introduce us to Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher’s characters, all of them magicians and prestidigitators of varying levels of prestige. From hustling rubes on a New York City ferry to lighting up a Vegas skyscraper with a mark’s chosen card, Now You See Me looks like it’s going to pack in spectacle, humor, and, of course, a heist, which sounds like a recipe for summertime success. Oh, and did we mention that Isla Fisher gets dunked into a watery chamber and covered in piranhas? Because that totally happens too. Rounding out the all-star cast are Morgan Freeman, playing Gob Bluth a hated ex-magician who made a career out of revealing how other magician’s illusions worked, and Mark Ruffalo, an FBI agent sent to catch the magicians in the act. As Jesse Eisenberg’s cool guy Vegas street magician tells us, “The closer you look, the less you see,” but after seeing the first four minutes, I can’t wait to see more.

And in the vein of those old Magic Eye books, here’s the film’s new motion poster (it’s in Flash, so if you don’t have Flash, you can’t see it. Sorry….)
