Nissan Created Self-Parking Chairs to Make Sitting Even Easier

Clap on

Clap off

Clap on, clap off, self-parking chairs
:clap clap:

Nope, not quite as catchy, but after you watch this video of “self-parking” chairs from Nissan you wait and see how quickly you’re singing that song.

Yeah, that’s right, self-parking chairs. Automated chairs that respond to a user’s clapping by returning to their predetermined spot, where they neatly tuck themselves in. Because in this fast-paced world of paradigm-shifting synergy and cross multimedia sustainability, who has time to push in his or her chair? (Note: I don’t know what any of those words mean.)

Actually, this isn’t really about catering to the planet’s laziest office workers, it’s about Nissan promoting their “Intelligent Parking Assist” technology, which is actually very useful and something I eagerly await becoming a standard feature in all cars one day. This second video explains how both automated designs work.

There’s something to be said for how convenient it would be to straighten up a big room, especially a giant conference room or function hall, using this technology. However, considering what is required for this to work, both in the individual chairs and the motion detector cameras, it probably means we’re still many years away from this becoming a common/affordable set-up. Until then we’ll just have to suck it up and muster a small amount of energy to do it ourselves.

But this is the future. And why stop at chairs? How much would parents pay for automated, self-cleaning toys? Imagine just clapping your hands at the end of the day and having all of your kids’ stuff go back neatly where it belongs. What’s the market for that? Literally every parent?

What household item would you most want this technology for? Until we have “self-writing” technology, you’ll have to tell us yourself in the comments below.
