Nintendo to Take Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions on Tour

Ever had the desire to listen to music from almost 20 years of Pokémon games played by a live orchestra? Live in D.C. or Philly? Then you, my friend with very specific tastes in music, are in luck.

The Pokémon Company International and Princeton Entertainment announced this morning that they’re taking the music of the long-lived RPG franchise on tour with Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions Tour, which kicks off Friday, August 15 in Washington D.C. with more dates to follow in Philadelphia and other cities across the U.S.

“Enjoy a night at the symphony with Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions, a live orchestral concert going on tour this year. Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions will showcase memorable music from throughout the world of Pokémon, featuring all-new musical arrangements that will entertain not just Pokémon fans but all music lovers. Look forward to a wonderful symphonic experience that covers nearly 20 years of Pokémon entertainment around the world.”

The first event, which is being held at D.C.’s Warner Theater, will coincide with the 2014 Pokémon World Championships (August 16-17) at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Then, on September 19, the tour is headed to Philadelphia and the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. You can find ticketing information for both performances here.

This isn’t the first Nintendo franchise to get the orchestral treatment: last year, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess Tour took tunes from the franchises’ 25-plus years of history on tour with the help of Jason Michael Paul Productions.

For those unable to make one of the tour dates, hopefully The Pokémon Company will see it fit to release some of the arrangements via CD or MP3.
