NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET As a Romantic Comedy

Slasher icon Freddy Krueger faced plenty of badass women during his reign of terror over the sleeping teenagers of Springwood in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, including a young Patricia Arquette, and even Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child. But his number one lady will always be his very first “final girl,” Nancy Thompson, played by actress Heather Langenkamp.

Now, thanks to Bloody Disgusting, we’ve learned about YouTuber Shawn Kohne, who paid tribute to the Nancy/Freddy dynamic by cutting together portions of the three Nightmare movies they starred in together into a trailer for a romantic comedy: A Nightmare on Love Street. Watch:

So, what made Nancy the greatest of the Elm Street girls? For starters, not only did Nancy defeat Freddy in Wes Craven’s original A Nightmare on Elm. St., she basically set the standard all the others followed. On top of that, she became the mentor to the surviving kids locked in Westin Hills in a A Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors, and she came back to close out the original saga with Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. She is to Freddy what Jamie Lee Curtis is to Michael Myers–his ultimate nemesis.

Maybe if this video gets enough attention it can persuade Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp to team up once again for a new movie or TV series, maybe even a real comedy?
