Update! We have an exclusive look at another one of the many great pieces (and its very cool variant) that will be featured in Mondo Gallery’s final show of 2016, their exhibition dedicated to classic Nickelodeon programs that opens this Friday on December 9th.

Spongebob Squarepants in “Graveyard Shift,” by artist Francesco Francavilla, comes from the animated show’s memorable 16th episode way back in its second season, the one that used footage from the 1922 film Nosferatu. For those of you that make it out to the Austin, Texas art gallery, you’ll get to see both the full-colored piece, as well as the (very appropriate for the episode) black-and-white variation.

We know that as 2016 comes to a close a lot of you have no desire to relive the past year, that like us you’d much rather reflect back to a simpler time in life, when our biggest worry was making sure we were home to catch the new episodes of Doug and Rugrats. That’s why we’re doing the Dance of Joy after hearing about Mondo Gallery‘s final exhibition of the year, a poster art show dedicated to classic programs from Nickelodeon.

Mondo announced that their final exhibition of the 2016 season will be held at their Austin, Texas gallery from Friday December 9th through Saturday December 16th. The perfectly titled “A-Nick-Nick-Nick-Nick-N-Nick-Nick-Nick Nickelodeon Show” (you will now be singing that old jingle under your breath all day) will include pieces based on “The Ren & Stimpy Show, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and Avatar.”

The show will include works from artists Florian Bertmer, Dave Perillo, Francesco Francavilla, Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, Sachin Teng, Ciro Nieli, Sara Kipin, and Janice Chu. You can see a few of the pieces that will be included in our gallery below.

The opening reception on the 9th will be free to the public (7pm — 10pm), and on Saturday the 10th they will host a special “Family Day” event from 10 am to noon, which will feature “a Slime Building Workshop with Mad Science of Austin, face painting, photo booth, coffee and donuts, and more.”

For those of you lucky enough to be in the area, make sure you head out to check out the show, because there’s no better way to close out this year than by looking back to a time before it ever happened.
