News From The Homemade TARDIS Bureau

Oh, yeah, that “Where’s the TARDIS?” contest BBC America ran to promote this season of Doctor Who? They picked a winner:

The Bull family of Madison, Wisconsin’s ice fishing shanty TARDIS got them the grand prize of every existing episode on DVD and a screening in their home town. There are more pictures here.

Menwhile, another homemade TARDIS in Oklahoma got stolen:

The TARDIS was built as a school bus stop shelter and someone just walked off with it. The same family previously had to deal with the daughter ending up with Blake Griffin’s old cell phone number, and the resultant incessant calling by people looking for the L.A. Clippers superstar. That family just can’t win, can they?

  1. Rory Santino says:

Far better to explain to the kids that the fishing shack is traveling time and space than the sad fact that sank to the bottom of the lake on an unexpectedly warm day… I doubt the park ranger would believe the story, however.

  2. The song from which “Doctorin’ the TARDIS” takes its tune, such as it is, is “Rock and Roll Part 2” by Gary Glitter. Google “Gary Glitter” for his somewhat disturbing story, in case you don’t know about him.

  3. chiwhistler says:

Chuck… it was “Doctorin’ the TARDIS” by the Timelords… I totally forget the song they lifted the music from, but it’s one of those “get psyched” tunes you’d hear played during a timeout at an NBA game.

  4. Chuck says:

It is gonna break my heart if a Dr. Who fan stole that. What was up with the Dr. Who song they used?

  5. bocephus says:

Jesus all 47 years…..I want to go to there

  6. Claud says:

i love how carefully the news channel treads when explaining what the blue box is for…lol

  7. Tom says:

I live in the same county as the bus stop victims. I knew Oklahomans were heathens but come on…

  8. Ryan says:

ALL 47 YEARS!! A man could only hope.

  9. Patti says:

Ice shanty TARDIS ftw! Literally! Congrats Bull family!
Shame about the bus stop TARDIS.

  10. Sawyer says:

Did someone steal the TARDIS, or did the TARDIS steal someone so it could see the universe?
