Well, we knew from the end of the last season that Negan was finally coming. With the reference to “A Larger World” in this newly released image, it’s all but confirmed what story arc the next episodes will be nominally based on, referencing the other communities beyond Alexandria that Rick and company will be interacting with.
Still, the name also has another connotation for TV viewers. The past half-season has been somewhat divisive in the way it focused on one incident from multiple perspectives; the phrase “A Larger World” implies we’re done with such close-quarters, micro-storytelling for a while.

âThis image gives a look at tiny pieces of a larger world our group is about to discover,â said executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple. âIn the new world, they’ll find hope, possibility, tragedy and the terrifying cost of change.â
Like the Deadpool movie, The Walking Dead‘s midseason premiere will debut on Valentine’s Day weekend, possibly to make some kind of point about how love never dies, or to allow angry single people a bit of vicarious carnage to vent.
Are you ready for Negan? Are we not long overdue for Rick to start yelling “CORAL!” again? (Seriously, I counted last half-season–only in the last episode did it happen.)
Let us know what larger world you’d like to see, below.
