New THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2 Trailer Reminds Us It’s All for Prim

Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) didn’t step into the Hunger Games arena with the intention of changing Panem and teaching President Snow a lesson. She volunteered as tribute to take the place of her sister Prim (Willow Shields), and by doing so, she likely saved Prim’s life. Though they’re technically siblings, Katniss became Prim’s primary caretaker in the years after their father’s death. A new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 reminds us how important the relationship between Katniss and Prim has been to the series and to Panem.

The two minutes of footage barely hints at the dark road ahead–and yes, the worst is far from over–and instead looks back, beginning with the fateful moment when Katniss stepped onto the stage in District 12. She fought tooth and nail to stay alive for Prim, and once Katniss survived her first experience in the arena, Prim was a driving force that kept her moving forward. Prim grew up, became a rock for Katniss, and pointed out what her older sister couldn’t see: Katniss had become a symbol of hope, her actions inspiring citizens across the districts.

Katniss got embroiled in the rebellion because of love, and that love may be her downfall. President Snow warns her, “It’s the things we love most that destroy us.” In other words, none of us are emotionally prepared for the final installment of The Hunger Games story. The film will be in theaters on November 20, and tickets go on sale on October 1.
