New Super-Poseable TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES from Figuarts

As the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel has been winning us over by bringing back all the old cartoon characters and banter we remember fondly from childhood, Bandai‘s Tamashii Nations prepares to tap that nostalgia vein even further. Known for extreme accuracy to source and elaborate, well-concealed articulation, their S. H. Figuarts line is bringing all the Turtles to life in 6-inch scale just as they looked on TV. Leonardo and Donatello were previously announced; today they’ve revealed Raphael and Michelangelo to complete the foursome.

Okay, so one teensy point of accuracy may be off–in the cartoon and original toy line, Mikey’s full name was spelled “Michaelangelo.” More recent iterations, including this line, have corrected it to the Renaissance-accurate “Michelangelo.” That’s entirely forgivable. Because even Playmates, who have held the license for decade now and would seem to have made every possible iteration, never made the heroes in a half-shell this elaborate.

Raph, in addition to his sais, comes packing “interchangeable hands (x6), interchangeable head (x1), sai (x2), optional weapons (kunai, shuriken), and interchangeable belt parts.” Mikey has “his classic nunchaku weapons and Turtle grappling hook that fans will instantly recognize from the show. The set also includes interchangeable hands (x6), interchangeable head (x1), nunchaku set (for posing), nunchaku set (for holding and storage), interchangeable belt parts, and a Turtle grappling hook.” To see the kinds of poses the figures can strike, and how the different accessories look on them, check out the full gallery below, which also includes the previously announced Leo and Don.

Due to international licensing restrictions, these TMNT are North American exclusives, and will only be made available for a limited time, with preorders now available at many online retailers (Leo and Donny will arrive this summer; Raph and Mikey in October). Suggested retail is $62.99, which may be more than most Ninja Turtle figures, but is a bargain by Figuarts standards.

Are these the totally tubular turtle boys you’ve been waiting for? Do their action poses make you secretly ooze with excitement? Go ninja, go ninja, go…to our comments section below and share your thoughts.
