Are we going to finally see the Knights of Ren in action in Star Wars: Episode VIII? Today’s Nerdist News is getting the scoop on all things Ren! Before we start, this is all kind of spoiler-y, so turn back and don’t come back until December 16, 2017 if you want to stay shiny and spoiler-free… All right, you’ve been warned! This week, Making Star Wars got their hands on a big ol’ cup of spoilers from fan sightings in Ireland and we’re gonna tell you exactly what they saw and what we think it means for Episode VIII.

Over the past few weeks, there have been a few set leaks from the set of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars film, and though it’s still all speculation at this point, we think this one reveals a possibly major scene from Episode VIII. Fans witnessed Rey and Luke Skywalker together on Ahch-To when a group of seven men in black (not those Men in Black) appear with Kylo Ren. (And yes, we’re all assuming these are the Knights of Ren we got a sneak peek of during Rey’s Force vision in The Force Awakens.) An unmasked Kylo duels Rey along the cliffside while Luke Skywalker takes out the Knights of Ren one-by-one, including the axe-wielding Knight we saw a glimpse of during TFA, using both the Force and his green lightsaber. Rey and Kylo battle and at some point she disappears, possibly escaping (we’re assuming alive) because moments later, after taking out each Knight of Ren, Luke approaches calmly and Kylo flees.

So where does Kylo Ren go? Does he run inside the temple to prepare for the second sequence in this blow-out fight? Sources that spoke to Making Star Wars noted there was a lot of “wire work” involved, which seems like it’s going to be part of a pretty big fight. If that’s the case, where does this scene fall in the movie? It’s obviously a major fight, but is this more of a mid-point action sequence à la Empire Strikes Back, or the beginning of the last act showdown? We’re hoping it’s more of the former and the finale wasn’t just ruined more than a year in advance… If it is part of the final battle, however, we probably didn’t get too spoiled, since the end of the scene showed Kylo Ren running into a mysterious structure. Either way, we hope this fight is just the beginning of an insanely epic final showdown inside an ancient Jedi temple!
