Can you believe we’re less than two weeks away from the release of a brand-new Star Wars movie?! Well, just in case you aren’t stoked out of your mind yet, today’s Movie Morsels has a brand spanking new clip from Rogue One. Plus, the latest photos and video of Dwayne Johnson in action on the set of Jumanji, an update on Aquaman, and much more to make your Monday merrier!
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
In the many positive reactions to the 28 minutes of Rogue One footage shown at Saturday’s international press event at Lucasfilm HQ in San Francisco, one note is struck again and again: K-2SO is awesome. Voiced by Alan Tudyk, the security droid-turned-Rebel commando should be the film’s big breakout character, the same way that BB-8 stole most of his scenes in last year’s The Force Awakens. Whereas BB-8 is a 21st century reimagining of R2-D2, K-2SO looks like a big, bad-ass version of everyone’s favorite protocol droid, C-3PO. At least that’s how things appear in a clip unveiled at the event. Check it out below…
We’ll all know if Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has got the goods when it hits theaters on December 16th.
Jumanji
The Rock looks like he’s continuing to have the time of his life on the set of Jumanji. Workin’ and playin’ hard while throwing his “stunt man brothers” around like six-foot-five rag dolls… Dwayne Johnson has shared a handful of new pics of himself, along with a video snippet of him and Kevin Hart. Hey, is it just me or would anyone else love to see Johnson and Hart dress up as K-2SO and BB-8?
Aquaman
Aquaman, Aquaman, does whatever a merman can… Guess we’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer than we thought we would before we can watch the King of the Seven Seas in his big screen solo-film debut. Because Warner Bros has announced that the release date for director James Wan’s Aquaman has moved from July 27, 2018 to October 5, 2018. As far as I’m concerned, so long as this movie has at least one shot of Aquaman riding proudly and unashamedly atop the back a dolphin, Wan and co. can take all the time they want.
A Monster Calls
The children’s fantasy film A Monster Calls has been winning rave reviews since it debuted at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and it’s December 23rd release date (a limited one, with a wide release following in January) should make it the perfect holiday present for kids of all ages. But in case you’re unfamiliar with the award-winning novel on which it’s based, Focus has just unveiled a new behind-the-scenes featurette with author and screenwriter Patrick Ness, director J.A. Bayona, and star Liam Neeson…
Barbie
Finally today… In case you missed it last week, funny lady Amy Schumer (pictured above in Train Wreck) is in talks to star in Sony’s live-action Barbie movie, confirming that the film is definitely taking an irreverent approach to its subject. Though a script has been written by Hilary Winston, Schumer is expected to pen another draft with her sister and writing partner Kim Caramele. The family comedy is said to take place “in a perfect land of Barbies, where one woman slowly awakens to the fact that she doesnât fit in. She is expelled from the idealistic land and journeys to the real world, where she discovers that being unique is an asset.”
