New RATCHET & CLANK TV Spots Get Funky

With the Ratchet & Clank big-screen adaptation fast approaching, it’s time to take a gander at some of the newest television spots promoting the epic origin story of the handy lombax and his trusty bot. Feast your eyes on the commercials above and below!

Despite both clips being relatively short, we still got a pretty good look at the main cast including Captain Qwark (being his usual heroic self), and Chairman Drek (who literally turned his crew into sheep). With the appearance of the Sheepinator in the spots, there’s hope that the other impractical yet satisfying arsenal (like the disco ball-dispensing Groovitron) will also make an appearance. Hopefully the film includes the same sense of humor that was such an integral part of the popular video game franchise.

For those that don’t already know, this film is based on Insomniac’s PS2 classic, Ratchet & Clank, and will be covering the origin story of how the unlikely duo came together to save the galaxy from Drek’s malevolent plans.

Fans of the franchise should be excited for the film. First of all, the animation looks like something straight out of a Pixar production. Not to mention it’s being written by former Insomniac Games Senior Writer T.J. Fixman. And as we’ve mentioned before, it also includes a star-studded cast being lead by Sylvester Stallone and John Goodman. On top of that, the original voice-actors for Ratchet and Clank reprise their roles.

This adaptation has a good chance of avoiding the video game-to-film curse thanks to all of the talent backing this project.

You can catch this film in theaters on April 29. After that, you can play Ratchet & Clank–the game, based on the movie, based on the game– when it launches on the PS4 this Spring!

What do you guys think about this movie? Do the above clips make you more excited about the film adaptation of the video game? What are you expecting to see from the duo on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below!
