New Official Trailer for THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED

Next up on the prequel, sequel, reboot train comes The Transporter series. Brought to us in the 2000s by action magnate Luc Besson and solidifying the bad-ass level of actor Jason Statham, the Transporter films maintain a cult status in action genre film. Sure, the stories got weirder, crazier, and less coherent with each film, but I did say action genre.

It now seems that Besson and his producer friends are not content with only three films in the series, and now a prequel film, The Transporter Refueled, is on its way. Sadly, it seems that Statham was not interested in coming back, so we instead have Ed Skrein, the original Daario Naharis from Game Of Thrones, getting into the driver’s seat.

The newest trailer, the second for the film, gives us a better idea of the film’s actual plot and characters while still delivering some driving stunts and fight scenes to remind us what the film is. Skrein is in fact picking up Statham’s roll of Frank Martin, early in his career as The Transporter. After assisting a group of bank robbers on one of his transport jobs, Frank’s father (Ray Stevenson) is kidnapped by the people who were robbed. Martin must re-enlist the robbers to help him get his father back. Clean, simple, and explained in a few sentences.

Like the Fast and Furious franchise, fans have never really been interested in Transporter so much for the plot than for the wild action set pieces, car stunts, and well-made fight scenes. Depending on how the film does, I may just be able to forgive Skrein for leaving Game of Thrones when he was my favorite part of the third season.

The Transporter Refueled will be in theaters September 4th.
