New Novel THE SECRET LIVES OF TWIN PEAKS from Series Co-Creator Mark Frost Coming in 2015

The Twin Peaks related news just keeps on coming! Last week, David Lynch and Mark Frost shocked the world when they announced that they were bringing back their seminal ’90s television series for a nine episode run on Showtime in 2016, set in real time, some twenty-five years after the show was cancelled by ABC. All episodes will be written by Frost and directed by Lynch.

Now, series co-creator Mark Frost has announced that he will be writing a novel that covers the lives of the characters over the past quarter century, many whose fates were left up in the air by the cliffhanger finale of the television series. The novel will be called The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks and is set to hit in late shelves in 2015, just before the series revival. In a released statement, Frost said “This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life, for old fans and new. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

The original Twin Peaks was also a multimedia experience, before that was even a buzz word. In between the first two seasons of the classic show, David Lynch’s daughter Jennifer Lynch wrote The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, which for hardcore fans was a key ingredient to unraveling the mystery of the series–much more than just a throw away tie-in novel. Other books followed, as well new recordings of Agent Cooper’s audio tapes made for his secretary Diane released as an audio book. Frost’s new Secret Lives of Twin Peaks is totally keeping in that tradition. Mark Frost is already an accomplished novelist, having written several novels including The List of 7 and The Six Messiahs, and recently he penned the YA series The Paladin Prophecy. He also co-wrote the two Fantastic Four films, but let’s try not to hold that against him.
