Well it looks like Cassie Cage (daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade) isn’t the only Mortal Kombat alum descendant to make their debut in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X–which is due out April 14. The newest trailer released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment casts some light on some brand new characters who face stakes at hand.

The video, titled “Who’s Next”, is an official Mortal Kombat X story trailer that reveals a first look at Jacqueline Briggs (Jax’s daughter), Takashi Takeda (Kenshi’s son) and, last but not least, Kung Jin (Kung Lao’s descendant) as they join Cassie in the fatal fight against the returning, newly revealed character Mileena and her Outworld rebel army. Judging by the arrows on his back, it looks like that character we thought was Nightwolf or Green Arrow (really not really) was actually Kung Jin.

In addition to the new characters, we also saw glimpses of Shinnok possibly with Johnny Cage in the corner at the 0:35 mark, the gunslinging cowboy Erron Black at 0:45 and at 0:52 next to Ermac, Rain kicking Kotal Khan out of the building at 1:18, Sindel at 1:24, and someone that may be Baraka amongst the Tarkata warriors at 1:08. Whew, that was a lot.

As far as the story goes, NetherRealm has confirmed that this entry in the fighting game franchise takes place 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat 9. The new characters Cassie, Jacqueline, Takashi, and Kung Jin will be defending EarthRealm against Mileena and more than just the Outworld.

This reveal comes after yesterday’s announcement that Brutalities–the mega violent moves that usually follow the phrase “Finish Him/Her” from previous entries– will in fact be returning. According to NetherRealm, there will be more than 100 in all. You know, just in case you were getting bored of dismembering your opponents in the same old ways.
