New MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN Clip Explains the Time Loop

Later this month, director Tim Burton is leading moviegoers into Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which is based upon the photo novel by Ransom Riggs. A few recent videos have explored the talents of the “peculiar children,” but now it’s time to learn a bit more about Eva Green‘s title character, Miss Peregrine.

In a new preview scene, Miss Peregrine appears almost eager to explain the secrets of her hidden home to Jake Portman (Asa Butterfield). As she notes, it’s not her ability to turn into a bird that makes her peculiar. It’s her ability to create a time loop. Within this repeating pocket of time, Miss Peregrine and her charges are safe from the outside world…but not for long. The children have enemies, simply by being who and what they are. Even she can’t protect them forever.

The footage also features two of the peculiars as they casually demonstrate what they can do with their powers. Fiona Frauenfeld (Georgia Pemberton) has the ability to control plants and make them grow to ridiculous sizes, as she does with the carrot here. Her fellow peculiar, Bronwyn Buntley (Pixie Davies) has super strength, and she’s the only one who could lift that giant vegetable so easily.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children also stars Ella Purnell, Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Kim Dickens, Terence Stamp, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film opens on Friday, September 30.
