New MALEFICENT Banner Offers a Better Look at Angelina Jolie, Fantasy Critters

Hey guys, how evil does Sharlto Copley look in the trailer for Maleficent? The prequel/update to Disney’s version of Sleeping Beauty has been kind of slow to grab my attention (although star Angelina Jolie looks incredible as the not-quite-villainous lead), but knowing Copley will be in it doing dirt has piqued my interest.

Not pictured in this latest banner for the film? Mr. Wikus himself.

Pictured in ample supply: fantasy monsters galore.

I can be onboard with some woodland critters. But Disney, give us the Copley.

In case you didn’t know, here’s the official line on the film:

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Maleficent will be in theaters May 30th.

Looks like Disney is using Brian Froud’s art style for the faerie folk

I was thinking the same thing when the faery’s appeared, my inspiration for my arm sleeve long ago. Most excellent film.
