The LEGO Dimensions video game series has already given us several unexpected crossovers, and even an upcoming team-up between the two generations of Ghostbusters. But the team at Digital Wizards Studios has offered up their own unique crossover as part of a new LEGO Ghostbusters animated short!
This is actually a retelling of the original Ghostbusters movie, which plays out in an extremely condensed form. The crossovers are largely cameos in the early part of the short, including some very specific ghost and slasher references. But it’s the grand finale that brings out numerous characters to take on the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. We never knew how much we wanted to see LEGO Yoda with a proton pack until it happened here!
According to the post on Digital Wizards Studios’ YouTube page, this video was the collaboration of “eight artists with a combined collection of over $100,000 of LEGO bricks spend 2000 hrs over the last [five] months: building, animating, lighting, compositing and composing for this animated marvel!”
It was also noted that the short featured some of the most valuable LEGO sets, including the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, and Cafe Corner. Even the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man was a family affair, with the ten-year-old daughter of one of the team’s members stepping into the role . It’s a really well made animated short that has already had over 500,00 views. Digital Wizards Studios has also posted many previous LEGO animated shorts, which you can find here.
