After the trailer released last week, hype for Quentin Tarantino’s 8th film, The Hateful Eight, has been quite high. Everyone has seen Tarantino’s love of classic cinema shine through in his previous films, and now it truly feels like they have all led to this moment of Tarantino making an official western film. The marketing team for the film has been slowly revealing character posters ever since the trailer released, and now with the final reveal of Samuel L. Jackson’s Major Marquis Warren poster, all eight characters are represented in seven posters.
So now everyone gets a better look at Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern as their respective characters, and maybe learn a little more about them.
The trailer plays out as if “The Bounty Hunter” played by Jackson is the protagonist of the film, but one can only speculate when it comes to a Tarantino film. It is also very interesting to see Tarantino looping back a bit in the sense of story settingâplacing a collection of characters in basically one location for the length of the film. This was the budget-friendly tactic he used back in ’92 for his premiere film Reservoir Dogs, which also involved a group of characters with questionable morals and motives being trapped in one place with each other.
It was a rocky road to get to this film, with the script leak back during pre-production that led to Tarantino scrapping the entire project, but many had faith that he would not be able to pass up his chance to actually make a western, and the project was soon back on. With these posters, and the trailer, we can only say we are glad he decided to see it through. Check out all seven posters below, and get ready to get hateful this Christmas.
