Since her debut in Batman: The Animated Series, Harley Quinn has been a breakout character for DC Comics. The upcoming Suicide Squad movie may even make Harley more popular once she makes her live-action debut with actress Margot Robbie portraying Harley on the big screen.
DC is already looking to capitalize on Harleyâs appearance in Suicide Squad. This April, Harley Quinn will be featured in two new comic projects. The first is Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad April Foolâs Special # 1. Writer Rob Williams is teaming up with artists Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Sean âCheeksâ Galloway for a story in which Harley forms Evil Anonymous, a new villains support group. However, Harley is using the groupâs âevil schemesâ for her own benefit, which will lead to âa much bigger, far more dangerous, and truly life-altering joke is being played on her.â
Currently, DC uses a slightly more serious Harley Quinn in the New Suicide Squad comic, and a more comedic Harley Quinn in her ongoing monthly comic and its spinoff, Harleyâs Little Black Book. The second Harley project coming in April is another spinoff from her monthly title called Harley Quinn and her Gang of Harleys. This will be a six-issue miniseries that puts the spotlight on the Gang of Harleys, a team of like-minded sidekicks that Harley recently assembled.
Regular Harley Quinn co-writer Jimmy Palmiotti will be co-writing Harley Quinn and her Gang of Harleys with Frank Tieri, and Maruricet will be the interior artist with Amanda Conner providing the cover. The storyline for the miniseries finds Harley Quinn kidnapped by a new villain who holds a grudge against her, which will force the Gang of Harleys to step up to rescue their boss and protect their loved ones from the villain.
