New GAME OF THRONES Series Goes Behind-The-Scenes

Last night, Game of Thrones wrapped up its seventh season with a series of epic moments and the most ominous cliffhanger to date. It may be well over a year before the eighth and final season returns to HBO, but the network isn’t done with Thrones this year. HBO has announced The Game Revealed, a new seven part behind-the-scenes look at Game of Thrones. The first episode of The Game Revealed is online now, and you can watch it below.

The Game Revealed begins with a look at the opening scene from season seven, as Arya exacted her revenge upon the entire Frey family and their soldiers. The episode’s director, Jeremy Podeswa, explains why that scene was chosen to begin the season and how Maisie Williams was given a realistic mask of David Bradley‘s face to help sell the illusion of Arya’s disguise and her unmasking on screen.

Williams is also in the spotlight for the scene in which singer Ed Sheeran had a cameo as a Lannister soldier; co-showrunner David Benioff details why they approached Sheeran for the part.

Additionally, the video delves into the creation of Cersei‘s map room at King’s Landing, the prosthetics behind the army of the dead, as well as everything that went into Daenerys’ homecoming to Dragonstone.

The Game Revealed will only be available to HBO subscribers via HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand, and other HBO affiliates. The next episode will be released on Monday, September 4, with subsequent episodes following every week.
