New Fan Animated Short Brings CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR to LEGO

Ten years ago, Marvel’s superheroes clashed in the Civil War crossover miniseries by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. That storyline was loosely adapted for Captain America: Civil War, which was released earlier this year. Now, Civil War is coming to LEGO, but probably not in the way you expected!

On YouTube, a user calling themselves Keshen8 has created a LEGO Civil War short that mashes up both the Civil War comic and the third Captain America film. It’s not an exact reproduction of either story, as the focus is primarily kept on Cap and Iron Man, as they unleash an increasingly brutal level of violence against each other. The short also takes a few humorous liberties with their characterizations, including Cap’s pretty simplistic world view and an almost outright villainous Tony Stark. But to be fair, Stark came off as a bit of a jerk in the first Civil War miniseries. So, that’s fair.

The short impressively animates the facial expressions and movements of Cap and Iron Man, but it’s the actual fight between the two that really delivers the most entertaining moments. Stark throws everything that he has at Cap, even the Hulkbuster Iron Man suit. In response, Cap calls in his best bud, the Winter Solider; whose vehicle clearly wasn’t built for speed. For the conclusion, a few of the moments from Captain America: Civil War‘s climatic fight between Cap, the Winter Solider, and Iron Man are recreated, but with a more amusing resolution.

Keshen8 has previously released several LEGO animated videos on his YouTube channel, which you can check out here.
