New DOCTOR WHO Photos Show Why They Need to “Kill the Moon”

We haven’t been to the moon in several decades, so it has somewhat regained some of its mystery and allure and also makes a great setting for scary stuff. In fact, it might actually be so scary that we need to kill it. “Kill the Moon” just happens, because of my great and not at all belabored premise building, to be the name of the seventh episode of Doctor Who Series 8 and from the looks of the newly-released photos and trailer, it’s gonna be real creepy.

Written by Peter Harness and directed by Paul Wilmshurst (both first-timers to the program), “Kill the Moon” seems like it’ll be dark scary and full of awesome space-suity goodness. Evidently, Steven Moffat, when giving instruction to Harness about how to go about writing it, told him to “Hinchcliffe the shit out of it,” meaning make it as scary as possible, a reference to producer Philip Hinchcliffe whose tenure on the show during the mid-’70s were among the most consistently scary. That bodes well, methinks.

The official synopsis for “Kill the Moon” is as follows: “In the near future, the Doctor and Clara find themselves on a space shuttle making a suicide mission to the moon. Crash-landing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of corpses, vicious spider-like creatures poised to attack, and a terrible dilemma. When Clara turns to the Doctor for help, she gets the shock of her life.” Space spiders are exactly the reason not to go to the moon, I think.

Guest stars for this episode include Hermione Norris, Tony Osoba, and Ellis George reprising her role as Courtney Woods, the student who inexplicably was granted access to the TARDIS in the last episode. Please enjoy the pictures and teaser below and come back for my review on Saturday!

why is he wearing a helmet?he floats around space and time without one normally why on the moon does he need one?

    • SXK206 says:

He only floats around in space without a suit on if he is in the general vicinity of the TARDIS, i believe it extends some sort of life support bubble around it.

Can someone tell me what the Doctor says at the end of the trailer? I don’t think I’m hearing him right.
