New Contest Lets You Help Design a READY PLAYER ONE Avatar

In 2018, Steven Spielberg will bring Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One to the big screen. For all you artists reading this, there is now a chance you can help with Spielberg’s vision.

Ready Player One tells the story of Wade Watts, who spends half of his time in the real world and the other half in the OASIS, a virtual MMORPG. When the creator of OASIS dies, he decides to leave his massive fortune to whoever is able to solve clues he has left in the game. Wade is able to solve the first clue and is now in a fight for his life to find the rest and solve the puzzle.

When inside the OASIS, you control an avatar, and that’s where the contest comes in. Five lucky creators have the possibility of having their 3D design be featured as an actual avatar used for the film. Other creators also have the chance of having their artwork shown in background scenes and graffiti. This video featuring Cline himself gives some more details:

If you are interested, I suggest you get to the drawing board, as the submission deadline is June 23rd at 10:00 a.m. PST.

For all of the official details, you can check out Talenthouse’s official contest page here.

So what do you think? Do you have what it takes to help bring the OASIS to life? Or is your 3D knowledge relegated to knowing when to put your glasses on at the movies? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
