New BIG HERO 6 Trailer Shows Baymax and the Superteam in Action

I can’t be the only one out there who wants their own Baymax, right? So far most of the marketing for Disney’s upcoming superhero adventure, Big Hero 6, has centered around the film’s hero, Hiro (get it?), and his plushy healthcare robot. It’s smart marketing to be sure — who wouldn’t watch an entire movie with a bumbling, adorable robo-friend? But the movie IS called Big Hero 6, and in this second, full-length trailer released today, we finally see a few glimpses of the rest of the heroes, as well as that creepy Kabuki-masked villain.

This is the first time we see any hint of the major loss that Hiro (Ryan Potter) is dealing with when he first meets Baymax (Scott Adsit). We see his older brother, Tadashi, through Baymax’s eyes, as well as the robot’s very literal attempts to heal Hiro. (“It’s just an expression!”) The second trailer is also much more action-packed, and shows the full Big Hero 6 team— the amped up GoGo Tamago (Jamie Chung), neat-freak Wasabi No-Ginger (Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry guru Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), and goofball Fred (T.J. Miller) — experimenting with their “powers” and even donning their supersuits to fight off a supervillain.

We’ve seen Baymax stuff himself into his own protective garb, but this time around we’re truly seeing him in action. Though T.J. Miller’s character Fred is (probably) spot on when he says, “It’s like spooning a warm marshmallow,” this trailer shows Baymax zipping through the zeppelin-filled skies of San Fransokyo, saving Hiro from a swarm of microbots, and practicing some serious martial arts skills. He also tends to get stuck in small spaces, but hey, nobody’s perfect.

Big Hero 6′s second trailer pulls back the curtain a little bit to show that directors Don Hall and and Chris Williams have packed quite a bit into Disney’s follow-up to Frozen. Though at its heart it’s a story about a boy and his robot buddy, it’s also a fun superhero romp, a high-tech action thriller, AND a heartfelt story about growing up — puberty! — and loss. Based on this new footage, Big Hero 6 has solidified itself as one of our most anticipated movies of the fall.
