When it comes to Star Wars movies, especially following the awesomeness of The Force Awakens, it doesn’t take much for us to get all kinds of excited. However, this week has been so full of amazing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story news, images, and revelations, we’re positively on Cloud City 9! After learning all sorts of new tidbits, getting the skinny on Forest Whitaker’s character history, and learning how much Darth Vader will factor in, Entertainment Weekly has provided a new crop of intriguing images from the December release. Check out the gallery below!
We’re very, very excited to hang out with the heroes of this secret spy mission for the Rebellionâand there’s a couple of new pictures of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), and a great one of Baze (Jiang Wen) and Chirrut (Donnie Yen) chilling outâbut we’re strangely more excited for the Empire, which we’ll get to see in full swing during Rogue One. Two of the pictures eerily depict traditional Stormtroopers trudging through an idyllic tropical setting which the EW article confirms is because the planet on which a major battle takes place could be a resort paradise were it not for its proximity to the in-production Death Star.
Also intriguing are the shots of the scary looking Deathtroopers, clad in gunmetal carrying much more artillery than normal troopers. One very interesting photo has a Deathtrooper holding what appears to be a Stormtrooper doll or toy. The producers wouldn’t elaborate fully, but they did say that, yes, it is a makeshift toy soldier from one of the planet’s inhabitants, and it definitely calls to mind a certain scavenger on Jakku who has her very own X-Wing pilot toy.
You can see even more photos and get the full story behind each one over on Entertainment Weekly‘s site. If you need us, we’ll be making our own Deathtrooper doll carrying an even small Stormtrooper doll. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
