New Animated Short Proves R2-D2 is Not To Be Messed With

Brotherhood Workshop’s Kevin Ulrich has a new animated stop-motion short that proves R2-D2 really is the most badass droid in the galaxy. Take a minute to watch him take out a group of marauding Jawas and tell Obi-Wan Kenobi exactly what he thinks of his judgement post-explosions.

The guys at Brotherhood Workshop create awesome stop-motion animation shorts with LEGO. If their YouTube channel is any indication they are fans of the geeky genre with shorts featuring Star Wars characters and Marvel. They even recreated the Age of Ultron trailer:

In addition to these very entertaining shorts that evoke the nostalgia both for the movies I grew up watching and for the LEGO I am thankful I no longer have to step on because a sibling left them out, Brotherhood Workshop also provides detailed behind-the-scenes looks at how they use things like special effects, stock footage, and more to create their little masterpieces. I think one of the things I love most about the R2-D2 short that turned me onto Brotherhood Workshop is the homemade feel of it while it is also super professional in terms of production.

Plus, who doesn’t love the validation that R2-D2 really is the most badass droid in the galaxy? And who exactly does Obi-Wan think he is? Everyone knows the Rebel Alliance would not have succeeded without his heroic efforts and the fact that he could keep everybody in line.

I cannot wait to see how LEGO does BB8 with the new movie. It’s not like they’re really known for circles. Can you make a rolling ball out of LEGO bricks? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Maybe BB8 will be a future Brotherhood Workshop star too.
