The Nashville-based, fuzz rock supergroup The Dead Weather are releasing their latest album, Dodge and Burn, next week, but some people have a chance to check it out a week early via TIDAL, the Jay-Z backed streaming service. Subscribers of Third Man Record’s Vault service from Jack White’s Third Man record label also have access to the new album.
Of course this is not as exciting as it would be in the album hit SoundCloud, or another free streaming service before release, but sometimes that’s the name of the game. Third Man’s Vault is an immediate payment subscription for those interested in exclusive content from the record company, but TIDAL does offer a free 30-day trial period for anyone who signs up.
The Dead Weather first formed back in 2009 after The Kills’ singer Alison Mosshart helped fill in on vocals for The Raconteurs when Jack White lost his voice during a tour both bands were on. This lead to a studio session in which White and Mosshart met with White’s fellow bandmate Jack Lawrence and Dean Feritita of The Queens of the Stone Age. This session would lead to their formation as a new band under White’s own Third Man record label. Dodge and Burn will mark the third album the group has released when it drops September 25.
