New AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Trailer Teases Inhuman Threat

Later this month, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its third season on ABC…without Skye! Well, Chloe Bennet is still around, but her character is now officially calling herself Daisy Johnson. Daisy is also at the forefront of the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer that sets the stage for a new Inhuman threat.

While Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) a.k.a. Mockingbird and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) are potentially getting their own show, Marvel’s Most Wanted, they are both in the new trailer alongside Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Agent Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell). Notably MIA from the trailer are Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), as well as their former teammate, Grant Ward (Brett Dalton).

May was last seen going on an extended vacation with her ex-husband, Andrew (Blair Underwood), and Ward was attempting to take control of the remnants of Hydra. Simmons’ fate was a little less clear. She was sucked inside of an alien artifact that solidified around her during the closing moments of season 2.

The new trailer hints at friction between Lincoln and Mack and introduces Joey (Juan Pablo Raba), a new Inhuman who encounters Daisy and her field team. But more intriguingly, the trailer offers the first glimpse of Lash, an Inhuman villain who is portrayed by former NFL player Matthew Willig. Lash is only seen in the shadows here, so it’s too soon to tell how his powers and mutation will be depicted on screen.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to ABC on Tuesday, September 29.
