Netflix’s GILMORE GIRLS Revival Gets Release Date and Trailer

Oy with the waiting already! Since Netflix announced that they were reviving the beloved series Gilmore Girls for a limited, four-episode run, we have been waiting with bated breath for any news, images, or clips we can get our hands on. We’ve already kept you updated with every single tidbit shared so far, but now, as the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour kicks into high gear, we finally have a trailer AND a release date: all four 90-minute chapters will premiere globally on November 25 at 12:01am PT. Happy Thanksgiving to us!

The trailer starts with that oh-so-familiar music and a look at Stars Hallow, the quaint town full of all the quirky characters that inhabit Laurelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore’s lives. They flash through the seasons, confirming that each 90-minute episode will be like its own little mini movie set in a different season throughout the course of one year. “Some things never change…” the caption reads, as we see the gazebo, Doose’s Market, and of course, Luke’s. But some things never do… Like the two Gilmores bickering over coffee and pop culture, bouncing between topics and jabs at a rapid-fire pace, discussing corpse flowers, Amy Schumer, and water sports. It’s good to be back.

It’s more of a teaser than a trailer, but we’re still feel like bursting out into song (the Pippi Longstocking song, perhaps?) that this show will be back in our lives in just a few short months. We’ve yet to see any of the other characters like Emily “Two Glasses of Wine” Gilmore, Luke, Sookie, or any of Rory’s questionable-but-adorable boyfriends, but we’ll probably see glimpses of them in the coming months before the entire thing is unleashed onto Netflix.

The hashtag for the Gilmore Girls revival is #AYearInTheLife, which is a pretty cute way to show what these wonderfully weird women have been up to since we last saw them in the show’s less-than-stellar final season. Plus, Thanksgiving seems like the perfect time to curl up by the fire or somewhere else equally cozy and catch up with the full series before the new episodes air. And if you don’t have time to rewatch before the holidays, make sure you follow along Amy Ratcliffe’s supercaffeinated recaps of the series right here on Nerdist. Make sure you drink plenty of coffee.

What’d you think of the teaser? What would you most like to see in the revival? Let us know in the comments below!

Rachel Heine is the Editor-in-Chief of Nerdist and will probably rewatch Gilmore Girls at least twice before the revival airs. Chat with her about the show on Twitter @RachelHeine!
