Netflix and Marvel’s DAREDEVIL Series Adds 6 New Cast Members

The Netflix/Marvel Studios Daredevil series has just announced six new cast members added to the show, which is set to premiere its entire 13-episode first season in a little less than a month, on April 10th: Rob Morgan (Person of Interest), Matt Gerald (Avatar), Peter Shinkoda (Falling Skies), Wai Ching Ho (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit), Nikolai Nikolaeff (Camp) and Gideon Emery (Grimm) are joining Charlie Cox, who plays the title role.

Of course, with the entire show premiering in a month’s time, all these actors haven’t just been cast, but have probably shot their parts on this show months ago, so this casting announcement is probably coming a wee bit after the fact.

Rob Morgan is set to play small-time Hell’s Kitchen criminal Turk Barret, also known as Mauler. Matt Gerald will be taking on the role of Melvin Potter, known to long time comics fans as Gladiator, who originally starts out as an enemy of Matt Murdock’s, but later on becomes an ally. On the show he’ll be “a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place.” Shinkoda is playing Nobu, “a Japanese businessman with a mysterious agenda.” Wai Ching Ho will play Madame Gao, a powerful woman running her own trade, while Nikolaeff and Emery will play Vladimir and Anatoly, two Russian brothers looking to forge names for themselves in America.

In a press release, Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight said, “It’s an honor to be working with such a talented and diverse group of artists who vividly bring these characters to life. The challenge in bringing ‘villains’ to the screen is always in portraying them as three-dimensional characters. Our actors exceeded all expectations in this regard, crafting deeply flawed, wonderfully human antagonists.”
