Nerdist’s Top 5 Science Stories of 2014

Science is cool again, and for good reason — we are landing robots on comets and helping the paralyzed walk again!

In my latest Because Science*, I count down my top five science stories of 2014. It was almost impossible to choose from all the amazing discoveries made and inventions invented, but some stories were a cut above the rest. They either revitalized our interest in space, revolutionized what we thought we could do in medicine, or changed our understanding of how big the biggest land animals could be. In short, they made us say “wow.”

Of course, there were hundreds of science stories this year, and here is a pretty exhaustive list if you want to see just how far we’ve come in the last 365 days. Here’s to another year of reducing our ignorance of the universe!

Check out my last video on New Year’s resolution psychology, subscribe to this playlist to stay current with the show, and follow me on Twitter to barrage me with nerdiness!

*CORRECTION: In the video above, I say that Comet 67p was traveling at 135,000 kilometers/second. It is actually moving at 135,000 kilometers/hour.
