As we gear up for our one-night-only Fathom premiere of Nerdist Presents: The Hive, we had a chance to chat with director Dave Yarovesky himself to learn more about the making of his genre-bending film. Nerdist Presents: The Hive tells the story of a young man at summer camp who falls in love for the first time… right before a devastating plague sweeps through the camp’s sleepy little town.

Our resident horror expert Clarke Wolfe sat down with Dave to find out what influenced his first feature film, from psychological thriller Memento to the incredible storytelling in Bioshock Infinite, to the tragic love story at the center of Vanilla Sky.
