Nerdist Presents: Every Action Figure Commercial Ever

Behind every great female hero are her awesome, hyper-masculine male friends.

Right?

At least that seems to be the prevailing logic in most of the marketing we’ve seen for mega-franchises like Avengers: Age of Ultron. Remember how awesome Black Widow was in the movie? Apparently, the consumer products department slept through her scenes. This isn’t a problem that’s endemic to Marvel per se; rather it has been happening for years and years. But what about those of us who actually want to play with our female protagonists?

Today on a brand new Nerdist Presents, we take a long, hard look in the black mirror of action figure commercials to examine this ongoing issue of pushing our favorite female characters aside in favor of her lame-ass friends (even if they do come with kung-fu patriarchy grip). But since we don’t want to see the red dot of a S.H.I.E.L.D. sniper rifle from Marvel’s (or any other company’s) legal team, we’ll be introducing you Lady Justice, the star of the greatest blockbuster never made, Lady Justice & the Protectors! Who is Lady Justice, you ask? Only the slickest, sickest superhero in town.

“She puts the X chromosome in extreme” – a reviewer, probably.

She can save the world, but can she save her ailing toy line? Find out on the latest edition of Nerdist Presents.

Which action figure did you always want, but toy companies refused to make? Let us know in the comments below.
