Well, before Chris Evans gets to handsome it up on screen and the Russo Brothers get to cue massive explosions, it’s a job best suited for the dynamic writing duo of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who have penned high-octane genre fare like Captain America: The First Avenger, Pain & Gain, Thor: The Dark World, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, to name a few. Increasingly, they are Marvel’s go-to guys for blending high stakes drama, jawdropping action set pieces, and a certain comic sensibility that’s turned the House of Ideas into a cinematic juggernaut. If they’re “picking & choosing the best parts” of the Marvel Universe, why couldn’t Cap have had his silhouette back, at least by the end of the second film? What, it would’ve killed you to casually mention that a Dr Reed Richards has developed a “miracle cloth” that these gov’t-supported types could be using for their costumes? I’m sorry, but to these old eyes, he just ain’t Captain America w/o the turned-down boots, gauntlets and wings, practical or not.
