Nerdist and Geek & Sundry Bring Conival Back to San Diego Comic-Con

Comic-Con is right around the corner, and that means Nerdist and Geek & Sundry are once again putting on our annual Conival… in SPACE! (a.k.a. San Diego)! But first, we may have to release the Kraken.

PARTIES!

This year marks the very first Conival for Alpha, our premium programming service, and we’re teaming up with Kraken Rum for an exclusive “League of Darkness” party at FLUXX on Thursday, July 20. This is going to be your chance to hang out with your favorite Nerdist and Geek & Sundry talent while enjoying signature cocktails, and there will even be an opportunity to “Wrestle the Kraken” if you’re brave enough. Want to join in on the fun? Then follow @JoinTeamAlpha on Twitter and keep an eye out for details on how you can score an invite to the party.

We’re keeping the party going with our annual Conival bash at Oxford Social Club at the Pendry San Diego on Friday, July 21. This invite-only party is being sponsored by executive producer Seth Rogen’s upcoming Hulu comedy series Future Man, a new Hulu Original comedy series from Seth Rogen premiering on Nov. 14. But parties are just a small part of our San Diego plans. Conival is for everyone, and you won’t even need a Comic-Con badge to take part in the nerdy revelry.

CONIVAL!

For this year’s Conival, Future Man is also sponsoring the return of Nerdist Laser Tag, while Sideshow Collectibles will offer fans the opportunity to win a seriously cool, life-sized replica of Han Solo in Carbonite. The Geek & Sundry tabletop lounge is also making a return, and this year, we’re going to have a Wonder Woman cosplay march too, in case you’re bursting with Themysciran pride. To join in on the fun, head over to the Marina Terrace at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, 11AM to 5PM from Thursday, July 20 through Saturday, July 22.

PANELS!

If you’re looking to find us inside of the San Diego Convention Center, you won’t have to search for long. Nerdist and Geek & Sundry are headlining four big panels at this year’s Comic-Con, and we’ve got the first details to share. First, the annual Nerdist panel will take place in Hall H on Thursday, July 20 at 4:45pm with Nerdist News host Jessica Chobot, editor-in-chief Rachel Heine, senior editor Dan Casey, science editor Kyle Hill, Bizarre States co-host Andrew Bowser, and Nerdist News writer Joan Ford.

But that’s not all… The annual Geek & Sundry panel will follow on Friday, July 21 at 2:30pm in Room 5AB. Join Geek & Sundry founder Felicia Day as she welcomes Marisha Ray (Critical Role), Hector Navarro (Mothership), Ivan Van Norman (Sagas of Sundry), Erika Ishii (Game Engine), Amy Dallen (The Wednesday Club), Eric Campbell (Shield of Tomorrow), and Sean Becker (The Guild).

Our very own Kyle Hill will moderate The Science of Rick and Morty panel on Saturday, July 22 at 2pm in Room 7AB, with series co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, plus Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan, neuroscientist Crystal Dilworth, and quantum physicist Spiros Michalakis. Let’s just say that they’re gonna get schwifty while talking about portal guns, screaming suns, and the absolutely insane universe of the show.

And if you love Geek & Sundry’s livestreaming Dungeons & Dragons show Critical Role, then you can catch up with cast members Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Liam O’Brien and Taliesin Jaffe at 10:30am on Saturday in Room 6BCF as Talks Machina host Brian W. Foster moderates this year’s panel.

To close out our Comic-Con plans on Sunday, July 23, Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser will bring Bizarre States to Room 6A from 1-2pm as they plumb the depths of the supernatural and mercilessly mock each other in front of a live crowd.
