  1. Ian Brill says:

Working comics editor here. I can tell you there is a way to write in Final Draft and have the script formatted for your editors. Save your script as a Rich Text Format file and it will open up in MS Word on a PC. Most editorial offices use PCs.  That way an editor can easy make comments are do a copy editing pass on the script.

  2. Loved the conversation with Len!  As for the listener question on self teaching comics scripts, I’d recommend Alan Moore’s Writing For Comics from Avatar Press.  It was written before he went off the deep end.  Paperback is less than $6 last I knew.  I have a question of my own.  One of my favorite DC characters inspired me to conceive a story that addresses an underserved issue.  After hearing the Writer’s Panel on Writers and the Law, I ran the idea through the lens of how many changes can I make?  I can use substantially different characters (created just for the story), different setting, different genre, etc. and the story still works.  I just prefer the first version with the DC characters.  Given that DC doesn’t accept unsolicited submissions, is the first version just a darling I have to kill or is there a way to submit it for their serious consideration?
