Our favorite astrophysicist, pedant, and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson announced today that he will be hosting a late night series Star Talk, premiering on National Geographic Channel later this April.

Filming in front of an audience at New York’s Hayden Planetarium, where Tyson serves as director, Star Talk will follow in the footsteps of Tyson’s immensely popular podcast of the same name, covering current science news, cosmic queries, and linking science to pop culture in that trademark silky voice with a variety of comedians, scientists, and celebrities.

Coming off the heels of one of the biggest science series in decades, COSMOS: A Spacetime Odyssey, the new Nat Geo series should be a perfect way to satiate our appetite for science content between the long production timelines of larger shows like COSMOS.

“COSMOS allowed us to share the awesome power of the universe with a global audience in ways that we never thought possible,” Tyson told National Geographic. “To be able to continue to spread wonder and excitement through Star Talk, which is a true passion project for me, is beyond exciting. And National Geographic Channel is the perfect home as we continue to explore the universe.”

When Star Talk premieres in April, it will be accompanied by another premiere — Hubble’s Cosmic Journey — a one-hour special celebrating the telescope’s 25 years opening our eyes to the universe. Star Talk will air in 171 countries and 45 languages.
