Negan Struts His Murderous Stuff in a New THE WALKING DEAD Teaser

Negan Struts His Murderous Stuff in a New THE WALKING DEAD Teaser

On October 2, The Walking Dead will finally make good on its contentious season 6 finale — a cliffhanger that sent fans crawling up the wall and convinced the production to film 11 different death scenes in order to keep the truth from being spoiled. To get everyone hyped for the reveal and for a promised paradigm shift in the show, AMC is calling up Negan from the bullpen for this new teaser (via EW).

Judging by this alone, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to do a lot of baseball-slung-on-his-shoulder strutting this season. He’s undoubtedly a perfect pick to play the role, briefly showing that swagger last season, gearing up to chew through a lot of scenes this fall. The teaser shows off the casual way Negan strolls among his gun-strapped ranks — armed with nothing by his barbed wire bat Lucille and a smile — as a testament to his confidence, strength, and the outright faith in his Savior followers. It’ll be fascinating to see how the show deals with such a richly drawn comic character, particularly since they’re signaling a possible change in who he’ll kill during his infamous murderer’s row scene. Unless the finale was a head-fake, and they’re keeping it the same. Or if it’s a double-head-fake…forget it. We’ll just have to wait until the end of October.

Not to get too conspiratorial on a teaser that doesn’t have many new shots (a ton are recycled from the Comic-Con trailer), but is that Maggie standing behind Negan around the 0:11 mark? Maybe just one of random stringy-haired, unwashed masses? October, come quickly.

We theorize on who Negan might have killed right here!
