SNL Parodies STRANGER THINGS with Natalie Portman as Eleven

Shortly after Stranger Things 2 dropped last year, we shared a theory about how the series could resemble the X-Men if Eleven continues to find more victims of the experiments that gave her incredible telekinetic powers. But since we’re going to be waiting a long time for the real Stranger Things 3 to materialize, Saturday Night Live beat the show to the punch with guest host Natalie Portman. As many fans have noted, Portman and Millie Bobby Brown, the actress who portrays Eleven, look a lot alike. So for this skit, Portman took over Brown’s iconic role as Eleven encountered her other siblings.

When it comes to illegal extra-governmental experimentation, not every power is guaranteed to be Earth-shattering. While Eight/Kali demonstrated her powers to create illusions in Stranger Things 2, the “kids” in this sketch had largely useless abilities. Fourteen (Beck Bennett) could be a modern day Firestarter if his power didn’t constantly make him throw up in his mouth. Nine (Cecily Strong) can read minds, but it unleashes her never-ending flatulence. Five (Pete Davidson) has speed that could rival even the Flash, however it leaves him too sexually aroused afterwards. Eighteen (Aidy Bryant) can only make great chili, but the geyser of blood he leaves behind kind of kills everyone’s appetite. As for Three (Kenan Thompson), his only power applies to ending sketches on a high note. For her part, Eleven generously welcomed her new family, even though they’re unimpressive compared to her.
