MYTHBUSTERS Tackle Walt’s Booby Trap from the BREAKING BAD Finale

It is no secret that the gang over at MythBusters are big fans of the AMC series Breaking Bad. In fact, they did a special entirely dedicated to the myth-cooking (get it?) adventures of Walt and Jesse’s first season a little while back.

Now, Jamie and Adam set out to test yet another moment from the series finale.

SPOILER WARNING FOR THE ENDING OF ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SHOWS IN RECENT HISTORY

Namely, the boys tested the trunk-gun booby trap that Walter White builds in the final episode for a mini-episode on Discovery’s YouTube channel. They don’t go into too much detail about the build or obtaining the pieces needed. Instead, after mentioning that the trap is built from a M-60 machine gun, we are quickly montaged to the completed contraption sitting in the trunk of a ’77 Cadillac DeVille and Adam welcoming Vince Gilligan back for their test run.

Vince joined them for the MythBusters’ original special in which the duo proved that some of the chemistry in the show’s first season was not up to snuff. That may be disappointing, but I am happy to know that Breaking Bad is not teaching people how to build explosives and dissolve dead bodies for disposal.

In four short minutes Adam, Jamie, and Vince discover that a home-made, remote-controlled booby trap involving a high-caliber machine gun hidden in a car is entirely plausible. It is the first Breaking Bad myth to not be busted.

Something tells me they went with “plausible” instead of “confirmed” because they do not want to propagate the idea of building machine gun contraptions at home. Don’t try this at home (or near a meth lab).
