We’re confident that Adam Savage‘s penchant for replicas goes absolutely unmatched on this planet. We can’t really speak for other planets, of course, but maybe he’ll be able to find out some day with the use of his Apollo A7L Spacesuit, which he recently showed off on the Tested YouTube channel.
I LOVE this spacesuit by @ryannagata. So much so I wore it in @MythBusters. https://t.co/tltOAA9gRk pic.twitter.com/2MR9rcoq9X

Savage is no stranger to sharing the replicas he’s built over the years, but part of the beauty of Tested is that they also make a point to show off other innovators’ creations as well, including this Apollo A7L Spacesuit made by spacesuit replica maker (and holder of the best damn job title ever) Ryan Nagata. The suit is complete with countless little flourishes that make it ACTNSAP (That’s “As Close To NASA Specs As Possible”). As Savage explains, the “metal” fittings were all poured color resin moldings but had their molds painted with metallic paint beforehand to add to their realistic look. The Velcro used, the purposely worn stitching, and even the faux moon dust in the nooks and crannies all lend to the realistic look of this suit. There are other bits that Savage added including the wrist mirror (that has actually been to space) and the replica Omega watch (that we forgot were so damn expensive!). He and Nagata continue to work on bringing it from an already gorgeous replica to one that might even fool NASA staff.
Savage’s love of replicas, space, and making things has us digging through the Tested YouTube channel for anything that can satiate our Spaaaace Maaaaadness and we were pleased as punch to come across the other spacesuit replica he showed off a few years ago.
What replica suit would you want to make yourself? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
