Mysterious ROGUE ONE Character Reveal Confirms Our Theory!

Earlier this month, Lucasfilm dropped the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and as much as we loved it, it of course left us with more questions than answers. But now, one of Rogue One’s stars has shed some light on his character in the movie, and it means that our previous theory has been confirmed! Today’s Nerdist News is all about that Rogue One revelation, so consider this your spoiler warning! You won’t need interrogation droids to make us talk!

Join Nerdist News host and known Rebel sympathizer, Jessica Chobot as she explores the mystery of Mads Mikkelsen’s character in Rogue One. Our man Mads was already one of our favorite onscreen villains thanks to his starring role in NBC’s Hannibal and his turn as Le Chiffre in Daniel Craig’s first James Bond film, Casino Royale. This year, we’ve got a double dose of Mikkelsen villainy in Doctor Strange and Rogue One…or do we?

The trailer for Rogue One would have us believe that Felicity Jones’ awesome Jyn Erso has been on her own since she was a kid. That kind of shot down our previous theory that Mikkelsen was playing Jyn’s father in Rogue One…or at least it did until Mikkelsen told Sky News “I read the script. It was very beautiful, and Felicity Jones is playing this lovely, strong woman. And I play her father.”

That raises some interesting questions. Did the Rebels know this before they recruited Jyn for the mission to steal the Death Star plans? And what’s going to happen when father and daughter come face-to-face in the place that is definitely not a moon? We’ve got some theories in today’s episode!
